Profanity is a content warning on Tellura for novels with frequent or strong explicit language. Used to signal tone and audience: military fiction, gritty urban stories, and grimdark settings often carry this tag.

Applied for frequency and intensity rather than the presence of any single word, so it functions as a register signal: military fiction, gritty crime, and grimdark carry it most often. It says nothing about the other content in a novel, and is independent of the sexual-content and gore flags. Readers who filter on it are usually filtering for tone rather than for offence.
